Who is behind Cucinario

Why Cucinario exists, what it does and what it has deliberately decided not to do.

Updated on

Cucinario was born from a banal problem: dozens of cooking videos are saved and none of them are cooked. The recipe is inside the video — the quantities spoken aloud, the ingredients in the captions, a step on screen for two frames — and in the kitchen it is useless.

The app does one thing: it takes that link and returns a readable recipe, with ingredients, quantities and steps separated.

What we have chosen not to do

The decisions that define us are mostly subtractions.

  • No advertising. There are no banners and no profiling. Revenue comes from the subscription, not from your data.
  • No selling of data. We do not sell them, we do not trade them, we do not transfer them to advertising intermediaries.
  • No social feed. Your library is yours and is not visible to any other user.
  • No recipes generated by artificial intelligence. The app structures recipes that already exist; it does not invent them. A recipe that no one has ever cooked is not a recipe.
  • No lock-in. You can export your library whenever you want, even without an active subscription.

How we sustain ourselves

An annual subscription of 19,99 €. A single tier, no features to buy separately. If you don't renew, the recipes you've already saved remain readable and exportable: new imports stop, not access to your library.

Languages

Cucinario speaks Italian, Spanish, German, French and English. It is not an automatic translation from English: recipes are extracted in the language you read them in, with units of measurement converted.

The blog

We publish articles on how to put order in the recipes you have already saved. They are written with the help of artificial intelligence and proofread by a person before being published; each article states this at the end. We do not publish recipes: for those there are the people who actually cook them.
